After about 1.5 hours hiking (with Mats) and crossing a snow field, you reach this saddle - and a breathtaking panorama opens up in front of you. This is also where Emigrant Wilderness begins, and the trail meets the Pacific Crest Trail only a couple of hundred yards from here. The hike is actually on an old jeep road that leads further into Emigrant Wilderness to an old Tungsten mine.
